I'm back, walking through the leaves - Sono tornata, camminando tra le foglie

I am back on the blog, dear friends, with some first fruits of this mini-sabbatical spent playing with new ideas...

I felt the need to take this time because I think that experimenting different painting techniques is the way to arrive not only to a more original and abstract style but also to new ideas on content.

I wish to paint in a more expressive, free and loose way, using the color, the techniques and the tools to get to an intense and evocative result.
The painting that I am going to show you is a first step on this road.

Eccomi di ritorno sul blog, cari amici, con alcune primizie di questo mini-sabbatico passato a giocare con nuove idee...

Ho sentito l'esigenza di prendermi questo tempo perché credo che sperimentare diverse tecniche pittoriche sia la via per approdare non solo ad uno stile più originale e astratto ma anche a nuove idee sui contenuti.

Voglio infatti dipingere in modo più espressivo, libero e sciolto, usando il colore, le tecniche, gli strumenti per arrivare a un risultato intenso e suggestivo.
Il dipinto che sto per mostrarvi è una prima tappa su questa strada.

The suggestion is that of a walk in the autumn campaign, through meadows sprinkled with leaves of many colors. Suddenly a clearing opens, and over there I see the trees, and the flight of distant birds in a sky already gilded by the first sun...

La suggestione è quella di una camminata nella campagna autunnale, attraverso i prati cosparsi di foglie dai mille colori. All’improvviso si apre una radura, e in fondo vedo degli alberi, e un lontano volo di uccelli nel cielo già dorato dal sole appena sorto… 

As you can see above, I realized the foreground with some leaves printed over a colored wash of acrylic inks, and then I developed the rest of the painting "extracting" the shapes of the landscape in the background with the help of white gouache.

There are also some touches of gold to embellish the detail ...

But here below are some photos of the painting details:

Come potete vedere sopra, ho realizzato il primo piano con delle foglie stampate sopra una stesura variegata di inchiostri acrilici, e poi ho sviluppato il resto del dipinto ”estraendo” le forme del paesaggio sullo sfondo con l’aiuto della tempera bianca.

Non manca anche qualche tocco di color oro, per impreziosire i particolari...
Ma ecco alcune foto dei dettagli del dipinto:

The effects resulting from this printing technique are unpredictable, because you never know what awaits you once taken off the leaves or objects you've applied, but I love the idea of having something waiting to be revealed, as an unwrapped gift... and I also love to be stimulate by the marks that has been printed to proceed to develop the rest of the painting.

L’effetto che deriva da questa tecnica di stampa è imprevedibile, perché non sai mai cosa ti aspetta una volta tolte le foglie o gli oggetti che hai applicato, ma mi piace l’idea di avere qualcosa che aspetta di essere svelato, come un regalo da scartare… e mi piace anche lasciarmi stimolare dai segni che si sono stampati per procedere a sviluppare il resto del dipinto.
