Tutto inizia con alcune idee nella testa, e due foto per la referenza iniziale: una per l'idea degli ombrelloni, l'altra per la curva disegnata dalla spiaggia.
Il foglio è già stato preparato con il gesso, i colori sono stati scelti, il grembiule è lì per essere indossato, e anche la tazza di tè è già pronta...

It all starts with a few ideas in my head, and two photos for reference: one for the idea of the beach umbrellas, the other for the curve of the shore. 
The paper has been prepared with gesso, the colors have been chosen, the apron is there to be worn, and even the cup of tea is ready...

Usare un pennello piatto e largo mi aiuta ad essere più sciolta, soprattutto nelle prime stesure, e crea dei tratti più astratti, meno naturalistici: il che è proprio quello che sto ricercando negli ultimi dipinti.

Use a flat big brush helps me to be more loose, especially in early layers of paint, and also to build more abstract shapes: that is just what I'm looking for in the latest paintings.

Alcuni particolari che mettono in risalto le texture create precedentemente con vari strumenti sul gesso: pezzi di plastica (una carta di credito scaduta, un vecchio righello rotto), spatole da pittura, un pettine di legno a denti larghi, e anche un pizzico di sale, come in ogni ricetta che si rispetti…

Some details that highlight the textures created on the gesso with various tools: pieces of plastic (an espired credit card, an old broken ruler), some painting knives, a wooden comb with wide teeth, and even a pinch of salt as in any good recipe...

E' divertente anche aggiungere un tocco di preziosità con l'inchiostro dorato pieno di glitter... così la sabbia sembra proprio baciata dal sole!

It's funny also to add a touch of luxury with the shimmering gold ink full... so the sand just looks as sun-kissed!

E qual'è il modo migliore per creare le onde, se non soffiare sopra il mare proprio come fa il vento? E così ho preso una cannuccia e ho soffiato sopra all'inchiostro bianco ancora fresco...

And what is the best way to create waves? But blowing over the sea just like the wind! So I took a straw and I blew over the still fresh white ink...

Ed ecco che finalmente qualcuno ha piantato gli ombrelloni... ma il vento è troppo forte, e li fa sbattere di qua e di là!

And then finally someone has put the beach umbrellas... but the wind is too strong, and beat them here and there!

Ultimi ritocchi con il pastello e il pennino...
